Welcome Cat lovers and readers of fine Cat Facts, we're back again today with, you guessed it - another Cat Fact about the Cats who are our feline friends!
CAT FACT: Cats are part of the FELIDAE family of animals - that's why we call them "felines"
- The name "Felidae" comes from the Latin word for cat, "felis."
- This family includes all species of cats, from domestic housecats to lions and tigers
- The scientific Latin name for kitty cats is "Felis catus."
- All members of the cat family have so many characteristics in common, here's a couple:
- They are digitigrade, that means they have five toes on their front feet and four on their back feet!
- They are super sneaky with flexible bodies with muscular limbs, for all that jumping and running around!
Here's a couple pics of our favourite feline rockin' out! Meow!
