CAT FACT: Recent advances in archaeology and genetics have shown that the Kitty Cat's domestication occurred first might have occurred in Western Asia around 7500 BC

- We used to think that cat domestication began in ancient Egypt, where cats were venerated from around 3100 BC

- Bastet is probably the best-known feline goddess from Egypt. Initially depicted as a lioness, Bastet assumed the image of a cat or a feline-headed woman in the 2nd millennium BCE. Wow! what a long time ago! I wonder how long that is in cat years!

- Cats were praised for killing venomous snakes and protecting the Pharaoh since at least the First Dynasty of Egypt!
